Outreach Programs

Marin Shakespeare Company offers free and low cost tickets, workshops and programs to a variety of social service organizations, schools, and low-income populations.

Free Shakespeare Drama Classes and Camps

We offer free Shakespeare summer camps for underserved youth from Marin City in conjunction with Performing Stars of Marin and for youth from the Canal neighborhood in conjunction with Canal Alliance, Pickleweed Community Center, San Pedro School and Bahia Vista School. We also offer free or low-cost in-schools drama and Shakespeare programs which have served Bahia Vista Elementary School, Lynwood Elementary School, San Pedro Elementary School, Venetia Valley Elementary School and others. We are happy to discuss further opportunities to bring Shakespeare to those who would not otherwise have the opportunity.

Shakespeare at San Quentin

Since 2004, Marin Shakespeare Company has offered weekly Shakespeare classes at San Quentin Prison, culminating in an annual performance. To see video clips and hear the inmate actors discuss how Shakespeare has changed their lives, click here:

Since 2009, this program is sponsored by the San Quentin Sate Prison Arts in Corrections Program through funding from the Marin Arts Council, Kalliopeia Foundation, and the William James Association Prisons Arts Project.

Complimentary Tickets for Social Service Organization

We offer free tickets for Mainstage performances to clients of social service organizations. To request tickets for your group, simple contact Lesley Currier at 415/499-4485 or management@marinShakespeare.org. Tickets must be used primarily for clients of registered non-profit agencies who would not otherwise be able to attend Shakespeare performances. Tickets are generally available for any non-Saturday evening performance.
