Macbeth 2011 Alexandra Matthews and William ElsmanKING JOHN
by William Shakespeare
Directed by Lesley Schisgall Currier

A glorious, rousing, exciting story of politics, integrity (or lack thereof), and spin-doctoring at its best. Shakespeare romanticizes and legitimizes the rise of the Plantagenets, giving us an action-packed version of history that will have you cheering for your favorite contender for the crown.

The FoolTHE LIAR
by David Ives, adapted from the farce by Pierre Corneille Directed by Robert Currier

Commissioned by Washington D.C.'s Shakespeare Theatre, gifted playwright David Ives' (named by New York magazine as one of the "100 Smartest New Yorkers") gives us a clever adaptation of a saucy French farce about love, language, lies and laughter. This gleeful high-energy romantic comedy in rhyming couplets has been called "a true comic gem". Washington City Paper wrote: "If there’s anything half as entertaining as The Liar onstage hereabouts, I’d be obliged if someone would let me know about it."
