Shakespeare Perfection

The Winter’s Tale tonight was Shakespeare perfection. What a strong and superb cast! MSC at its best. Everybody should see this production. Please don’t miss it!
I can’t wait to see Much Ado next month!

Masterful Winter’s Tale

Your productions of The Winter’s Tale and Amadeus were both masterfully done!
Rafael Unatalan’s portrayal of Leontes was stunning, his acting was brilliant! He really became Leontes! His non-verbal communication was powerful. I was very moved by his performance.
I thoroughly enjoyed the comedic antics of the characters in the countryside of Bohemia. Jerry Hoffman’s performance as […]

Winter’s Tale and Amadeus

The acting in Winter’s Tale and Amadeus is great.  And I have to say it’s very good to see the always excellent Scott Coopwood back at MSC.

Winter’s Tale Patron Review

I saw Winter Tale on 10/29/2006 on the Ashland trip. Your production last night was much superior! Your set & costumes were better and your Perdita and Hermione really look like other/daughter. Great casting or make-up! The non-verbal activity of Leontes helped explain why he thought that his wife had strayed (not clear at all […]

Comments on The Winter’s Tale Opening Night

What a luscious, wonderful night! A Winter’s Tale tonight…funny, beautiful and heart-breaking. I loved each moment of it! And I, clearly, am developing a Shakespeare ear (finally) because I could understand the whole show, lots of the lewd comments even…with just having heard the synopsis on this website—a FABULOUS feature; that helped tremendously.

For the most part, I enjoyed the costumes, although Time’s outer robe could do with a makeover; it didn’t work very well. The fabric look cheap, it had no flow or movement, the seams were too obvious and it needed ironing. I would have loved a different fabric that had the same lushness and movement as the rest of the cast. His hood with the inner/mist layer was awkward and a bit distracting—having the black wig liner was good. Also, Perdita’s cap—yikes! That seemed so weird and out of synch…that, too, was a bit awkward when it started to fall off.

I had a bit of a hard time to hear the Prince—could he project just a bit more?
Over all, the evening was just magical—I was captivated and caught up in the story and hearbroken at all the right places. The kings were just grand—I loved them both and want to have them as my husbands.
Thank you for such a splendid and imaginative time….the dancing, the singing, the audience involvement—the spilled wine, the pickpocketing—-the fabulous storm with great lightning, the bear growling (I hope that can get smoothed out a bit)…I loved it.
I will be back with other friends who were foolish enough to miss tonight!
love and blessings,
Claudia
