This summer, between rehearsals, classes, and camps, things are very full at 514. Open Access is still open, but it’s best to email us first so we can let you know if there is any availability. Interested in coming down? Contact jon@marinshakespeare.org

The doors are open Monday through Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Artists of all disciplines are invited to use various spaces including the lobby, theater, classroom, library, and dressing rooms on a first come, first served basis.

Community will have access to an ever growing list of equipment that currently features the ability to print and soon a mobile studio for recording audition submissions.

Please note that the scope of the work permitted will be limited to non-monetized creative development. Though artists may use the space to further develop work they may be hired for by another company, activities that require others to pay are not permitted.

For example, an artist could use the space to develop a new play with their cast, choreograph and rehearse a new dance piece, or record a voiceover or video audition. However, they could not use the space to hold a ticketed performance, sell their artwork, or teach a paid workshop. Marin Shakespeare Company offers rentals of the venue for these types of events for which a specific date/time is required.

Open Access hopes to play an important role in supporting and nurturing the Bay Area’s artistic communities, by providing a free and accessible space for artists to create, collaborate, and share their work.

No appointment is necessary. Space is first come, first served. Space availability may change daily with deference to the needs of Marin Shakespeare Company including programming, rentals, or maintenance.
