Karina Gutiérrez (she/her) is a Bay Area-based director, dramaturg, and scholar. She is passionate about supporting new play development, fostering local artists, and creating welcoming, equitable, and accessible theatre spaces and classrooms. She considers theatre a powerful space for social change and the mending, healing, and restoring of communities.
As a director and dramaturg, Karina has had the pleasure of working with Bay Area Children’s Theatre, BRAVA, Magic Theatre, Crowded Fire, Huntington Theatre, Magic Theatre, Marin Theatre, La Lengua, PlayGround, Playwright’s Foundation, Shotgun Players, Stanford University, TheatreFirst, Townhall Theatre, UC Berkeley, West Edge Opera, and Word for Word. She is additionally a member of the Latinx Theatre Commons Steering Committee, Crowded Fire Theatre Board President, Theatre Bay Area Board Secretary, and a founding member of the Bay Area Latinx Theatre Alliance Network (BALTAN).
Karina received her Ph.D. in Theatre and Performance Studies from Stanford University, where she was awarded the Carl Weber Prize for integration of Creative Practice and Scholarly Research. She is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Theatre, Dance, and Performance Studies at the University of California, Berkeley.
Bridgette directed A Midsummer Night’s Dream (2025) and Twelfth Night (2023) for Marin Shakespeare Company, and acted in Hamlet and Much Ado About Nothing playing Gertrude and Beatrice. Credits include Movement Direction for Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime, SF Playhouse; 2 ½ Breaths, a play she wrote, directed, and choreographed made its World Premiere off-Broadway debut May 19, 2022; Aerialist: 2008 Beijing Olympic Games; cast member NYC off-Broadway/International Tour: De La Guarda; Cast Member at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival 1997-2000. Collaborations with TheatreFIRST, Anton’s Well Theatre Company, UCSC, San Jose State University, African American Shakespeare Company and Darb1718 in Cairo, Egypt. Brigette is an Artitic Associate at Marin Shakespeare Company.
Evren is a Turkish-American director, writer, and arts leader based in New York City and San Francisco. He is a celebrated champion of historically-excluded voices in the American theater through work that is heart-centered, politically engaged, globally minded, and centers joy as resistance. He is committed to building his work with and for the communities it represents. He is the proud 2024-25 Artist in Residence at Golden Thread Productions and a 2025 Iris Lab Fellow with UC Santa Cruz. Recent directing: The Great Privation (How to flip ten cents into a dollar) by Nia Akilah Robinson (Soho Rep, NY Times Critic’s Pick), Macbeth and Mona Mansour’s unseen (Oregon Shakespeare Festival), Eric Reyes Loo’s Simple Mexican Pleasures (NCTC), christopher oscar peña’s our orange sky (Profile Theatre), Torch Song (Marin Theatre), Sylvia Khoury’s Selling Kabul (Northern Stage), as well as workshops of Adam Ashraf Elsayigh’s ALAA: A Family Trilogy (Berkeley Rep’s Ground Floor and Golden Thread) and Lauren Gunderson’s Muse of Fire (Prague Shakes, Utah Shakes, Marin Shakes, Magic Theatre). Playwriting and translation: Commissions, workshops, and productions at Cal Shakes, NYU Abu Dhabi, Golden Thread, Crowded Fire, and Custom Made. Evren served as the Interim Artistic Director at Oregon Shakespeare Festival in 2023 where he was Associate Artistic Director and Director of Artistic Programming since 2019. He is a founding board member of Middle Eastern North African Theater Makers Alliance and a founder of Maia Directors.

Julius Caesar
Jon Tracy works internationally as an art and culture producer for theatre and film. A director, playwright, designer, educator, and facilitator, he is the recipient of awards from the Kennedy Center, North Bay Artys, Marquee Journalists, Ellys, Bay Area Theatre Critics Circle, and Theatre Bay Area, and has also been honored with the Solano College Theatre Alumni Award. He is a grant recipient from Theatre Bay Area, Shotgun Players’ Bridging the Gap, SUI Generis, and the National Endowment for the Arts. He completed a five year leadership position with TheatreFIRST commissioning and developing the work of over fifty playwrights. Jon is a current Company Member of both Shotgun Players and PlayGround, and a proud member of SDC, the union for stage directors and choreographers.
